Based on current observations and forecast models, it appears that our operating area will experience near-hurricane conditions for an 18 hour period sometime between 9:00PM Monday 10/29 to 9:00PM Tuesday 10/30. While we will do the best that we can to stay open as Hurricane Sandy approaches, our top priority is the safety of our employees, customers, and vendors. May 2012: High's is Proud to Launch F'Real Milkshakes
We are excited to announce the launch of F'Real freshly blended milkshakes, smoothies, and frozen coffee in three Howard County High's: High's #40 in Ellicott City, MD, High's #42 in Eldersburg, MD, High's #89 in Glenelg, MD.
F'Real products are blended by the customer in a state of the art, touch-screen blender in about one minute. Customers have a choice of three thicknesses and over a dozen milkshake, smoothie, and frozen coffee flavors.
In addition to the first three locations, the all-new High's #25 in Cooksville, MD, will also offer F'Real.
May 2012: High's Brings Highs Branded Motor Fuels to Annapolis, Trappe
We are proud to announce the debut of High's Branded Motor Fuels in Trappe, MD, and Annapolis, MD. The brand conversions, which occurred in May, represent High's continued commitment to providing customers a superior experience both inside the store and at the pump. High's motor fuel customers are purchasing the same guaranteed, top-tier gasoline and diesel products sold by the major oil brands, at ultra-competitive prices. The Trappe and Annapolis locations represent the second and third High's branded locations, and are conveniently located on US-50 Eastbound. The first High's branded location sits between the newcomers along US-50 Eastbound on Kent Island in Chester, MD.
March, 2012: High's Retail Store Managers Visit M and T Bank Stadium
March, 2012: On March 20, High's retail store managers were welcomed to the Carroll Independent family at a special meeting held at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens. The event kicked off in the Baltimore Ravens press room with welcoming comments from High's President Brian Darnell, as well as Carroll Independent President John Phelps, Chairman Rick Phelps, and Executive Vice President Howard Phelps. After spending time on the playing field, lunch was served in the Raven's locker room. Members of both High's and Carroll's executive management teams were also present.
March, 2012: High's is Proud to Join the Carroll Independent Fuel Family
Breaking News: On Wednesday, March 1, High\'s of Baltimore, Inc. was acquired by the Carroll Independent Fuel Company. For more than 60 years, High’s has been a leading petroleum marketing and convenience store operator in the region. High’s is highly regarded for providing value to customers through friendly service, quality product offerings, and ultimate convenience due to highly accessible, superior locations. The company’s stores offer Shell and CITGO branded fuels, a wide assortment of convenience merchandise, and freshly prepared coffee and food. Founded in 1907, Carroll is one of the largest petroleum marketing companies in the U.S., distributing fuels to retail and commercial customers throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The acquisition of High’s by Carroll initiates its entry into the company-operated channel of trade. October 2011: High's Celebrates Grand Reopening in Ellicott City
We are pleased to announce the grand re-opening of High's #40 in Ellicott City, MD. The new store features high quality Shell fuels at 14 fueling positions, High's proprietary On the Mooove premium food service offering, frozen carbonated beverages, and all of the other products customers have come to rely on High's Dairy Stores for. Customers who attended the grand re-opening took their turn spinning a raffle wheel to win various prizes including free sandwiches, subs, and wraps, ice cream and milkshakes. The store opened on October 7 after a 4 month re-build process.
June 2011: High's Team Members Assist in Fight Against Hunger
On Wednesday, June 22 members of High's Executive Management Committee volunteered at the Maryland Food Bank, sorting and packaging 19,965 pounds of food for hungry Marylanders. The Maryland Food Bank's mission states, "Until Hunger Ends" and the organization estimates that reaching that goal would require 79 million pounds of food per month. The Food Bank also estimates that 30% of malnourished Marylanders are children. High's is honored to be able to contribute to the Maryland Food Bank.
May 2011: High's BTG Opens on Kent Island
High's BTG (By the Gallon) proudly opened in Chester, Maryland on Kent Island on Wednesday, May 25. The new store features High's proprietary food service and fuel brands, On the Mooove and High's BTG, respectively. The unit is High's flagship location, featuring High's latest store design, food service and merchandise offering, and the first ever By the Gallon fuel brand which serves customers premium motor fuels.
February 2011: High's to Sponsor Metric Marathon
We are proud to announce our sponsorship of the 2011 Kent Island Metric Marathon and Half Marathon hosted by the Kent Island Running Group. The event will take place on Sunday, April 3rd at 8:00am on Kent Island. All proceeds benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma society.
The race comes just days before a new High's Dairy Store is scheduled to open. The state of the art facility will be located next to Adams Ribs at at 300 Abruzzi Drive in Chester, MD.

November 2010: High's Dairy Store Team Members Volunteer at the Food Bank
Members of High's Dairy Stores executive management committee and retail operations team spent a rewarding afternoon at the Maryland Food Bank capping off a successful Hunger Awareness Month campaign.
As part of Feeding America's Hunger Awareness Month in September, High's Dairy store team members and customers teamed up to raise $10,000 for the Maryland Food Bank.
On Thursday, November 18 ten High's team members including President William Darnell, members of High's executive management committee, and retail operations team visited the Maryland Food Bank in Halthorpe, MD to present the Food Bank with a $10,000 check made up of generous customer donations and an additional gift from High's of Baltimore, Inc.
After the presentation the group rolled up their sleeves and was put to work sorting donated food items as they made their way into the 80,000+ square foot facility. "It's rewarding to know that the efforts of our team members and donations from our generous customers will make a difference in combating hunger in Maryland" said High's President William Darnell.
High's Dairy Stores plans to further develop it's relationship with the Maryland FoodBank.
November 2010: High's Dairy Stores Assists with Community Cleanup
On November 13, High's Dairy Stores assisted the West/Rhode Riverkeeper Organization in their annual Galesville cleanup near High's #17 on Muddy Creek Road in Galesville, MD. About 50 people volunteered their time on the chilly Saturday morning helping to remove tires and other debris from a critical area in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
High's Dairy Store's retail operations manager Kevin Greene said, "we are glad that we could lend a hand in this environmental cleanup effort working with an organization that cares so much about the West & Rhode rivers and Chesapeake Bay."
Volunteers were given water, breakfast sandwiches, donuts, coffee, and fountain sodas courtesy of High's Dairy Stores.
October 2010: $10,000 in Customer Donations to be Forwarded to the American Cancer Society
For the month of October High's Dairy Store associates collected customer donations for the American Cancer Society in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
High's also ran the "Coffee for a Cure" promotion for the month of October. In addition to forwarding 100% of customer donations, High's of Baltimore, Inc. is also giving the American Cancer Society 5 cents for each cup of coffee that was sold during the month - an additional donation of almost $6,000!
We are proud to support the American Cancer Society and breast cancer research through various promotions and initiatives.
September 2010: High's Dairy Store Customers Feed Hunger Awareness Month
In support of September being Hunger Awareness Month, High's Dairy Store associates and customers teamed up to raise almost $8,700 for the Maryland Food Bank. 100% of donations will be forwarded directly to the Maryland Food Bank to help fight this growing problem.

September 2010: Customers Win Big in Summer Sub Extravaganza
Congratulations to Sean of Gaithersburg, Deborah of Cockeysville, and Stanley of Baltimore for being selected as High's Dairy Stores' Summer Sub Extravaganza winners! Sean will receive a $1,000 gas card and Deborah and Stanley will each receive $500 gas cards.
The Summer Sub Extravaganza, which ran from June through August was a promotion and contest in which customers could enter to win free gas by purchasing a sub, sandwich, wrap, or panini and completing a short online survey.
July 2010: Kevin Harvick's #29 Shell-Pennzoil Sprint Cup Car on Display at Remodeled High's #16
Attention NASCAR Fans: on Saturday, July 24, High’s Dairy Stores and Shell have teamed up to bring you a dream come true. From 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM the #29 Shell-Pennzoil Car will be on display at the newly remodeled High’s Dairy Store at 42 Beauchamp Road in Elkton, MD.
June 2010: High's Hosts First Manager's Round Table Forum
On Wednesday, June 30, 2010 High's hosted its first Manager's Round Table Forum in Hanover, MD. Top performing store managers and their supervisors were invited to the prestigious event which included a tour of High's Corporate Headquarters, a personal introduction to store support personnel, company directors & executives, and a best practices round table discussion. The high-performance discussion was focused on customer service, employee relations & the work-environment, and sales performance. The next round table event is scheduled for Fall, 2010.

June 2010: High's Kicks off the Summer Sub Extravaganza
We're excited to announce the kickoff of our Summer Sub Extravaganza promotion and contest! From June 1 through August 30 customers can enter themselves for a chance to win $1,000 in Shell gas by purchasing any sandwich, sub, or wrap and completing a brief survey. Winners will be selected at random and notified in September. Two runners up will each receive $500 in Shell gas. During the promotion period, all sandwiches, subs, and wraps are $1.00 off.
May 2010: High's is Proud to Support the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition
We're proud to announce our support of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. The mission of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition is to raise awareness and increase education about ovarian cancer. More than 20,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with ovarian cancer each year, and there is no early detection test for ovarian cancer. The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition's goals are to make more people aware of the early symptoms of ovarian cancer, to assist newly diagnosed patients, to provide hope to survivors, and to support caregivers.

April 2010: Proud to Support West/Rhode Riverkeeper, Inc.
High's is proud to support the West/Rhode Riverkeeper organization and their annual Rhythm on the River event to be held Saturday, June 19 at Hartge Yacht Harbor in Galesville, MD.
West/Rhode Riverkeeper, Inc. was founded in 2005 with a mission of stopping pollution, enforcing environmental law, promoting restoration, and advocating for better environmental policy on and around the West and Rhode Rivers. West/Rhode Riverkeeper now supports a full-time Riverkeeper as well as two part-time support staff. Dozens of volunteers also contribute time and effort to sustain the organization. West/Rhode Riverkeeper works closely with the 15 other Waterkeeper groups in the Chesapeake area, and is a licensed member of the Waterkeeper Alliance, an international movement with nearly 200 membership organizations worldwide.
March 2010: Highs 89 Now Open in Glenelg, MD
We are pleased to announce the grand re-opening of High's #89 in Glenelg, MD. The state of the art store was built with the environment in mind: LED lighting inside and out, remote energy monitoring and management, elimination of door heaters, and economizers for the HVAC system. Informational placards in the store outline each green initiative for customer education. Customers will recognize the same high quality food service and convenience offering that they have come to expect of all High's Dairy Store locations. The new store features high quality Shell fuels at 16 fueling positions including 2 dedicated high-flow diesel positions under their own canopy. Customers who attended the grand re-opening took their turn spinning a raffle wheel to win various prizes including free sandwiches, subs, and wraps, ice cream and milkshakes, and up to $100 in free Shell gasoline. The store opened on March 31 after a 3 month re-build process.
February 2010: High's is Proud to Support Operation Smile
We are proud to announce our support for Operation Smile, an organization that provides free surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities for children around the globe. High's donation of Shell gas cards will be auctioned off at the Grin Gala in Washington, DC on April 10 to benefit Operation Smile. The funds generated from the auctioning of the gas cards will provide dozens of cleft lip and palate surgeries for children around the globe that otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it. February 2010: High's Haiti Relief Campaign Raised Over $10,000
We are pleased to announce that our Haiti Earthquake Relief Campaign raised over $10,000 to help survivors in Haiti. 100% of donations were forwarded to the American Red Cross to be put to immediate use in Haiti providing food, water, shelter, and medical and emotional support for victims of the disaster.

AUGUST 2009: More Than 300 People Visit #29 Shell-Pennzoil Car
At High's #47 in North East, MD on Saturday, August 29, more than 300 people visited the #29 Shell-Pennzoil Sprint Cup NASCAR vehicle. One lucky customer even walked away with a $100 Shell Gift Card.
August 2009: Shell Named Top Gasoline Brand
Shell has been named the "Top Gasoline Brand" in the 2009 Popular Mechanics magazine Reader's Choice Awards. This is the first year the magazine conducted the survey to determine reader's favorite consumer products across 30 categories. More than 7,000 Popular Mechanics readers participated in the inaugural survey. Among five brand choices, Shell was voted as the preferred gasoline brand.
